Gerald Vanenburg had a 20-year professional career
as a right winger. He played 372 games in the Dutch national soccer league (Eredivisie) and scored 112 goals for Ajax and PSV combined, winning fifteen major titles between the two clubs. In 1988, he won both the European Cup I for clubs (PSV) and the European Championships tournament with The Netherlands. Subsequently he played for clubs in Japan, France and Germany and eventually earned more than 40 caps for the national squad.
After his active football career, Vanenburg worked in various trainer positions for youth and main teams of, among others: PSV, FC Utrecht, Helmond Sport and FC Eindhoven. He is currently involved with the Ajax Youth Academy, supporting the superstructure (teams U17 and U18) with technical training.
